Put your trust in Allah:

for Allah is sufficient as Trustee

In deep sadness, yet in submission to the will of Allah Most High, our Creator and Sustainer, we share with you that our beloved father, Abu Wajahat Muhammad Shafquat, returned to his Creator on a blessed night from the final nights of the noble month of Ramadan 1447 – Tuesday 17th March, 2026.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
To Allah We Belong and to Him is Our Return.

His rites and his burial were completed swiftly، as per his wishes، after the noon prayer on Wednesday 18th March 2026, 28th Ramadan 1447, at the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking. He was laid to rest with beauty and dignity, covered by the remembrance of Allah Most High, within hours of his passing. He rests at his beloved mother’s ‘feet’ – his grave at the ‘foot’ of her grave – at Brookwood Cemetery, Surrey (*Pine Avenue within Brookwood Cemetery).

He was admitted to hospital on the day prior to his passing for severe breathlessness, which became of urgent concern due to underlying health conditions. Upon his admission and initial review, he said to us numerous times: ‘if Allah has decreed to call me to Him, let Him call me back in these blessed nights of Ramadan if He so Wills’.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّا نسْأَلُكَ حُسْنَ الْخَاتِمَةِ

O Allah We ask You for A Beautiful Completion

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَدْخِلْنِى مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍۢ وَأَخْرِجْنِى مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍۢ

Say: ‘O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour

We are profoundly heartbroken at this distancing from him. However, we take comfort in his sincere efforts, his good works, his vast connections and his incredible legacy of deeply impacting so many lives.

We pray that we may be able to honour him to the best of our ability, and ask for support and guidance in this from those who knew and loved him. We pray to be able to complete any initatives he had begun and was underway with; continue to sustain the expansive works of charity he was involved in until the day he passed; and we intend to maintain his ties and friendships as much as we can.

We ask you to recall his goodness to you in the time that you may have known him. We hope that recounting his virtues and goodness towards those he met and knew may be witnessed, counted for him in his record, and a source of glad tidings and solace for him in his onward journey Home.

We request you to please keep our father in your prayers: may Allah Most Merciful expand and illuminate his resting place with His Light and make it a resting place from amongst the gardens of paradise. We ask you to forgive him of any unintended wrongs or shortcomings towards any of you, and to recall only that which has been good. If he owed anything to any of you, or was involved in any work with you which remains incomplete, please do let us know.

Welcome to this digital space dedicated to the life and legacy of our beloved father, Abu Wajahat Muhammad Shafquat.
We have collated this space for a shared collection of grief and love, and as a living tribute, for those knew Abu Shafquat as a family member, a mentor, a friend, a respected professional colleague, or a collaborator in community works, or in any other capacity.
In the Islamic tradition, we believe that when a life reaches its earthly end in the ‘dunya’, it marks the beginning of another ‘life’ – everlasting life. The light of one’s good deeds, goodness towards others, and beneficial knowledge continue to shine, not only for the beloved ones who remain in the earthly world, but also for the renewed life the soul now inhabits.
We intend this space as an outpouring of shared love as well as an ongoing source of light for our father – as continual benefit for him – God willing. We hope in due course to be able to download and compile all accounts, and in the longer term to set up a foundation of charitable works in his name.
We invite you to move through these pages with a heart of prayer; to read, reflect and contribute if and as you wish.
As you navigate this space, we humbly request a moment of your time to offer a sincere prayer for Abu Shafquat, asking Allah Most High to grant him the highest stations of the Everlasting Gardens and to cover his resting place with light and mercy.
With gratitude, love, and salaam, The Family of Abu Wajahat Muhammad Shafquat

‘O Messenger of God! My parents have died: is there anything left with which I may be good to them?
He replied: ‘There are four things: praying and asking forgiveness for them, carrying out their promises, being good to their friends, and giving proper attention to those kinship bonds which could only have been attended to by them.’
